Mazagran Coffee originated in Algier at around 1840 and has since been spread across the Mediterranean. You can also prepare it at home.
This is what you will need:
Double espresso or approx. 240ml Cold Brew Coffee
2 tbsp brown sugar
4 tbsp lime juice (alternatively lemon juice)
1 lime slice (alternatively 1 lemon slice)
1 handful crushed ice
2 to 3 mint leaves
Preperation
Traditionally, Mazagran is made with a double espresso. In Portugal, a strong filter coffee is often used instead. A little more modern, on the other hand, is the preparation with Cold Brew Coffee.
First put the handful of crushed ice into a cocktail shaker, alternatively you can also use a sturdy glass and a lid. The preparation is very simple. Simply add the coffee, lime juice and sugar to the ice and shake the mixture vigorously.
Finally, pour everything into a tall glass and decorate with mint leaves and the lime slice.
